To redeem a PlayStation Store code, sign in to the account that should receive the content, open PlayStation Store on your PS5, PS4, phone or browser, choose Redeem Code, and enter the 12-digit voucher. The steps below follow Sony's official redeem guide, checked on 2 October 2026.

This page is one of the platform guides in our game code activation hub, which covers Steam, Xbox, Nintendo, Epic Games, Battle.net and Roblox as well. Digidang does not sell or hand out codes. We compare prices and link to G2A, so this guide only explains how redemption works on Sony's side.

What does a PlayStation Store code unlock?

A PlayStation Store code unlocks whatever the voucher was issued for: a full game or add-on, in-game currency or skins, a season pass, wallet funds, or a PlayStation Plus subscription. Sony's voucher page lists these types, and the redeem steps are the same for every one of them.

Content vouchers usually need a download after redemption, while wallet funds and most in-game currency simply appear on the account. Sony notes that some skins still require a download, so check your library if an item does not show up in the game right away (source).

Redeem a PlayStation Store code on PS5

On a PS5 the redeem option sits inside the PlayStation Store menu rather than on the home screen. These are the steps Sony publishes for the PS5 console, in order (PlayStation Support):

  1. Open PlayStation Store and press the triangle button to open the menu.
  2. Select ... (More), then Redeem Code.
  3. Carefully type the code and select Redeem. The credit or content is applied to your account.
  4. Select Download if the content needs one. You can also download later from your game library.

You can also redeem during checkout. When PlayStation Store asks for a payment method, pick Redeem Codes and Gift Cards and enter the voucher there, which is handy when you are topping up wallet funds for a specific purchase.

Redeem a PlayStation Store code on PS4

The PS4 store keeps the option at the bottom of its left sidebar. Sony's steps for the PS4 console are (PlayStation Support):

  1. Open PlayStation Store and scroll to the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Select Redeem Codes.
  3. Enter the code, then select Continue followed by Confirm or Yes.
  4. Select Continue and then Download to start the download, or download it later.

Continue and Download are not shown for content that does not need a download, such as wallet funds.

Redeem a code on the web or in the PlayStation App

You do not need the console in front of you. Redeeming online is useful when you received a code as a gift or bought it away from home, and the content is then waiting on the account the next time the console signs in.

In a browser:

  1. Go to PlayStation Store and select your profile at the top of the screen.
  2. Choose Redeem Code from the drop-down menu.
  3. Enter the code and select Continue.

In the PlayStation App:

  1. Tap the PS Store icon, then the menu icon on the right side of the screen.
  2. Select Redeem Code.
  3. Enter the code and select Continue.

Rules that decide whether a PlayStation code works

Most failed redemptions come from a rule, not a broken code. Sony's voucher restrictions list five that matter before you type anything:

  • Length: store vouchers have 12 digits. A 10-digit code is a discount code and is applied in the cart with Enter Discount Code, not with Redeem Code.
  • Region: the voucher must match the region of your account. Physical vouchers carry a printed flag for their country or region.
  • One use only: each code can be redeemed once. Redeemed vouchers show up in the transaction details in Account Management.
  • No transfers: funds and content cannot be moved between accounts, so redeem on the right account the first time.
  • Payment method: some subscription vouchers need a valid payment method on the account before they can be redeemed.

For family setups, Sony says wallet top-up codes have to be redeemed on the family manager's account, who can then set a monthly spending limit for the child. PlayStation Plus benefits on a child account are still limited by age ratings and parental controls (source).

What to do when the content does not appear

If the code was accepted but the game or item is missing, Sony suggests two quick checks before contacting support (PlayStation Support):

  1. Restart the console and look again.
  2. Sign out of PlayStation and sign back in with the account that redeemed the code.

If the store rejects the code instead, use Sony's voucher troubleshooting guide, which lists the error messages and the contact options for each one. Keep a photo or screenshot of the code and the error message, because support and the seller will both ask for it.

Buying a PlayStation code safely

Because the region rule is strict, the most useful thing to check before paying is the region label on the listing. A code labelled for the United States will not redeem on an Indonesian or European account. On Digidang every Buy Now button leads to a matching listing on G2A, and the order, warranty and refund follow G2A's terms for that listing, as explained on Is Digidang Safe?.

Never share a code you have not redeemed yet, and be wary of anyone offering free PlayStation codes through messages or comment sections. Sony only confirms a code when it is entered on its own store, so the store is the place to test it.

Prepare before redeeming to avoid the wrong account

Before opening the redeem menu, make sure you are signed in to the PlayStation Network account that should own the game, balance, or item. A code that has been accepted cannot be moved to another account later. If the console is shared with family members, check the profile name on screen instead of relying on whichever account was last used. This small check prevents the hardest kind of mistake: the code is already consumed, but the content is attached to the wrong profile.

Check the account region and voucher region as well. Region is not just an interface language. The account country controls the store, currency, taxes, and catalog that accepts a voucher. The US, UK, EU, JP, or other region printed on the card must match your account. When shopping on a marketplace, read the listing title, platform field, and region note before paying. Our guide to how digital game keys work explains the difference between game keys, wallet vouchers, and licenses with separate activation rules.

Finally, use a stable internet connection and leave storage space available if the code includes a game or add-on. Redeeming attaches the entitlement to your account, while the download may happen afterward. For PC codes, use the Steam redemption guide first. For another console, use the platform activation guide. Xbox owners can follow the Xbox redemption steps, while Switch owners can use the Nintendo eShop guide.

Tell game, wallet, add-on, and discount codes apart

Not every string of numbers in an email or on a card belongs in the Redeem Code menu. A game or add-on voucher normally grants an entitlement for a specific product. A wallet voucher adds balance that can be spent at checkout. A subscription code extends PlayStation Plus, while a discount code is entered from the shopping cart. Choosing the wrong menu can make a valid code look invalid.

After redemption, open the transaction history or library to confirm what you received. A full game normally appears in Game Library, an add-on appears on the parent game's page, and wallet funds show in the account area. If the item is missing, do not keep entering the code. Check the account, region, and transaction notice first, then use the PlayStation Plus guide if the voucher is tied to a subscription.

For a future purchase, choose a listing with a clear region description and keep the transaction record. Digidang links readers to products such as the US PSN gift card listing, but code validity, region, and refund policy still follow the seller and PlayStation rules. Read our Digidang safety explanation before deciding.

Check history and handle redemption errors

If the screen says a voucher has already been used, check the transaction history of the active account and compare the time with your email or purchase receipt. If the error mentions region, do not casually use a VPN or change the account country. The safe next step is to contact the seller with proof of purchase and ask them to check the voucher region. If a card is scratched or a character is unreadable, photograph it and keep the packaging before requesting help.

If the content does not appear after redemption, restart the console, check the library, and allow the game to refresh its licenses. For voucher-specific problems, use Sony's official voucher troubleshooting page, not a random site that asks for your credentials. Roblox gift cards follow the publisher's system, so Roblox players should use the Roblox code redemption guide.

PlayStation Store code redemption FAQ

How many digits does a PlayStation Store code have?

A PlayStation Store voucher has 12 digits, while a discount code has 10 digits and is entered as a discount at checkout rather than through the Redeem Code menu, according to PlayStation's official redeem guide.

Can a PlayStation code work in another region?

Not always. The voucher region must match the PlayStation Network account region. Check the country or region printed in the listing before buying because a mismatched code can be rejected.

Can a redeemed PlayStation code be moved to another account?

No. Once accepted, the balance, game, or subscription benefit belongs to the account used during redemption. Confirm the correct profile before entering the code.

What should I do if a PlayStation code does not work?

Check the code length, region, similar-looking characters, account status, and whether the code was already used. If it still fails, keep the purchase evidence and contact the seller or Sony's official support route.

Can a child redeem a PlayStation wallet code?

Family rules can limit redemption and spending on child accounts. Sony recommends that wallet top-ups be redeemed by the family manager, who can then set spending limits and parental controls.

Does redeeming a code download the game immediately?

Redeeming grants an entitlement or balance to the account. A game or add-on may still need to be downloaded from the library, while wallet funds usually appear after the account refreshes.
